        Dear Sirs:

It's time to recognize .lab!!!

The laboratory community is composed of hundreds of thousands of diverse entities.  They range in size from small, one member, university-based operations to massive, multinational conglomerates.  Virtually every material that is manufactured, grown, or exploited in the world requires some form of analysis that takes place in a laboratory.  Food, water, metals, human specimens, paint, clothing, chemicals, minerals, and many more products are either analyzed or produced in a laboratory.

The earliest days of the Internet can be traced back to students and academicians working from university laboratories.  The ICAAN should act immediately to acknowledge .lab as an appropriate and well deserved TLD.  Presently, laboratory web sites are distributed throughout the Internet, recognized with .com, .edu, and .gov.  It is time that laboratories from research, govt., and commercial organizations be given the opportunity to join together under one banner on the Internet - That banner is the .lab TLD.
