    As globalization and its children, growing income distribution, mounting ecological damage, become more pervasive, the need for co-operation in our world becomes vastly more urgent.  Co-operative business forms, as an expression of a co-operative alternative in the global economy need to develop greater consciousness of the contribution they can make to the global common good.  People around the world need to have a clearer understanding that there is an economic and business alternative that can help make the world a better place.  .coop will help people raise the profile of the co-operative alternative.  It will help co-operatives better communicate with each other and make global co-operation a growing possibility.
