If new suffixes are to be approved, it's imperative that .co-op be among the ones receiving top consideration. Cooperatives have a unique and different governing structure than .org or .com suggests, and are a major business force operating in nearly all types of industries worldwide.

Regarding cooperatives just in the United States, a recent CNNfn report (10/10/00) states, "Indeed, with more than 100 million members, America's co-ops can claim more participants than the estimated 78 million who own stock in the nation's corporations, the NCB said last week in announcing its annual list."

Voting in support of the new .co-op TDL will not only provide an accurate descriptor, but provide a means for this vital business organization to be recognized by an ever increasing and complex internet community.
