Subject: .co-op will benefit cooperatives, customers

Message:

On behalf of the 6,800 members of Meeker Cooperative, located in
south-central Minnesota, I urge the Internet Corporation for Assigned
Names and Numbers to approve the proposal for a .co-op top-level
domain. The National Cooperative Business Assn. (NCBA) and Poptel are
proposing .co-op with the full endorsemenet of hte International
Cooperative Alliance.

Meeker Cooperative has provided electricity and other services to
rural residents since 1935. We are proud of our history and
experience and look forward to what we can accomplish in the future.
One method of continuing to recognize our members for their
dedication and our industry as an electrical cooperative is the
creation of the .co-op TLD.

As our members become increasingly cynical and suspicious about the
constant creation and subsequent failure of e-businesses, it is
imperative that cooperatives be given the opportunity with the .co-op
TLD to continue to prove our stability and trustworthiness. Many
cooperatives use .com and .org, but neither accurately characterizes
co-ops to Internet users. Consumers need a way to find our business
on the Internet. The .co-op TLD will help fill that need.

Sincerely,
Janis Rannow
