On behalf of the 1200 members of Oneota Community Cooperative, I am writing to urge the Internet Corporation of Assigned names and Numbers to approve the proposal for a .co-op top-level domain. The National Cooperative Business association and Poptel are proposing .co-op with the full endorsement of the International Cooperative Alliance.

Our Co-op has been in business for 26 years, serving this rural community with foods that are locally and regionally produced, organically produced, and that are lower in packaging. Our members have come to count on this store as an essential part of this town.

As a cooperative, Oneota works hard to provide our members with the best products and services that we can. And we follow the International Cooperative Alliance principles, such as member ownership and control. That mekes our job more challenging tha investor-owned businesses, but it has also earned us the trust of the people we serve.

Consumer mistrust of e-businesses is growing. It is critical that cooperative businesses have an opportunity to identify themselves to consumers and others who prefer to do business with us.

I urge ICANN to move quickly to approve .co-op.
