        To whom it may concern,

On behalf of the 1000+ members of The National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC), I am writing to urge the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to approve the proposal for a .co-op top-level domain.  The National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA) and Poptel are proposing .co-op with the full endorsement of the International Cooperative Alliance.

NRTC is a telecommunications provider to much of rural America.  We offer many exciting opportunities, to include C-Band and Satellite services, Internet, Long-distance, 220 MHz Broadband frequency, Power Quality Management systems, and much more to our members.

NRTC members rely heavily upon us to provide leading edge technology in this information era.  We believe with the addition of a new .co-op domain, we would be better equipped to serve our existing members and gain new ones.

As consumers become increasingly cynical about the constant ebb and flow of new and defunct e-businesses, it is critical that cooperative businesses be given an opportunity to identify themselves.  While many cooperatives use either .com or .org, neither accurately characterizes co-ops to Internet users.  Consumers need a way to find the businesses they trust on the Internet.  The .co-op TLD will help do just that.

I would like to request and urge you to move quickly to approve the .co-op TLD.  I greatly appreciate your time and consideration to this request.

Sincerely,

Lorraine M. Cline
