Dear Mr. Roberts

International Cooperative Agriculture Organization (ICAO), one of the specialized bodies of ICA, is working for farmers' co-operatives in the world. Even though it is not proper for us to use .org, we do not have any way to show our identity in our top-level domain name.

We would like to appeal to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to take the proposal into account positively for a .co-op top-level domain.

We strongly welcome the proposal of .co-op domain initiated by the National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA) and Poptel, leading cooperative internet services provider in United Kingdom. We also hope that .co-op domain should be adopted which now receives lots of supports from various co-operative organizations throughout the world.

It is our belief that .co-op domain is necessary and useful to cooperatives which have a unique form of business. Economic and social co-operation in democratic forms  - the very essence of the co-operative idea - is a powerful and efficient way for groups of people to improve their living conditions. Thus, co-operatives are contributing both to economic growth through their economic participation and to increased democracy. While Co-operatives are independent, democratic, member-led organizations, they should have the same rights and obligations as other actors in the economy.

We believe this exclusive characteristics will be highly promoted by using .coop domain, and will benefit all kinds of people in the world.

Thank you for your kind consideration.

Sincerely

Won, Churll Hee
President
International Cooperative Agriculture Organization
