Image Online Design was given permission by IANA to bring the .web registry online.  IOD did so, and for the last four years have been treading water, waiting for the opportunity to implement their ideas.

Preserve the stability of the internet?!?  Come on, you have been reading too much ICANN propoganda.  What about all those country code domains?  I don't recall a big glitch in the internet when those came online!  Anybody who knows anything about the internet will tell you that the stability argument is bogus.

I support the idea of ICANN, but let me tell you that any agency that operates like ICANN does should be completely revamped.  Your blind support for ICANN only makes the issue worse.
