Subject: .web doesn't solve the problem

Am I missing something with regard to all these .web proponents?

Folks, the issuance of .web would compound the .com problem severalfold.  Yes, .web is "relevant" to the internet.  But... we KNOW it's the web.  By definition, a web address pertains to the "web".  A dot-WEB suffix doesn't tell us ANYTHING about the content on the site, its sponsors, its audience, or anything else.  .web does not address any of the problems ICANN is trying to solve with the rollout of new TLDs... who is it intended for?  how does it IMPROVE the stability of the internet?

If anything, .web is WORSE than .com because it applies to an EVEN BROADER audience.
