Subject: Consumers want .co-op!

Message:

Cooperative businesses are unique, member-owned entities which require their own ".co-op" domain.

Consumers of cooperative services and products are more satisfied than are consumers of profit-driven services and products, according to a recent Gallup poll.  Consumers want to know whether or not a particular business is, in fact, owned cooperatively, rather than by stockholders, etc.

Cooperative businesses adhere to the seven principles of cooperation, as administered by the International Cooperative Alliance in Switzerland.  These principles set cooperatives apart from non-profits and profit-driven corporations, and regulate the responsibility of cooperatives to their member-owners.

The National Cooperative Business Association is the entity representing all cooperatives in the U.S., and there are counterpart entities in all regions of the world.  I urge ICANN to utilize their expertise in finalizing the oversight of the ".co-op" domain.

In cooperation,
