        The Uruguayan Confederation of Cooperative Entities (CUDECOOP) enthusiastically supports the initiative for the creation of a new top level domain that may distinguish the coops from the rest of the organizations actively present in the internet.

CUDECOOP is a Non Profit Association founded in 1988 as an organization for the integration of the Uruguayan cooperative movement. CUDECOOP brings together all the representative organizations of all kinds of cooperatives existing in Uruguay. At present there are more than 1,000 cooperatives in Uruguay – agricultural, saving and credit, producer's, consumer's and house-building cooperatives-, which have more than 800.000 members and are distributed all around the country

Our assuredness of the importance of being present in the internet, with a profile of our own, has taken us to develop since 1998 the "Neticoop" project, an initiative that intends to stimulate the insertion of new information technologies into the running of uruguayan coops, and to present our particular activity to the rest of society.

In our opinion, the availability of our own web suffix will have many positive effects:
- It would contribute to the strengthening of a global community of users interested in cooperativism.
- It would facilitate on-line transactions between the coops of different regions
- It would allow to distinguish real coops from other so called coops that do not follow the principles and values shared by the global cooperative movement

Concluding, we support the initiative very enthusiastically and with our interest at hand.
