I object to the proposed dot travel domain for the following reasons:1)In the U>S> the airlines enjoy unrestrained power because of immunity from laws out of the jurisdiction of the federal government. State attorney general have no authority over airlines in cases involving, for example, deceptive advertising. Travel agencies are not protected by state laws protecting businesses against unfair competition and breach of contract. 2) The domain name `dot' connotes a government agency. Homophonically, it is the acronym for the Department of Transportation in the U.S. The airlines should stay out of internet travel commerce and address the many consumer complaints sent to DOT every day in the U.S.
