        To whom it may concern,

While the IATA proposal to develop the .travel domain appears to have many positive aspects, including "official recognition" as a travel provider online, it also raises several questions related to how the domain will be assigned to agencies and what the fee structure for its use will be.

An immediate concern is whether or not travel providers with exisiting .com URLs will be given first choice of their corresponding .travel URLs. If not, it is entirely possible that other entities will be able to capitalize on the "branding" of exisiting .com sites with similar names.

I sincerely believe that in order for IATAN to obtain support for this initiative within the travel industry they must first submit a proposal specifically outlining how they intend to utilize the .travel URL and how domains will be granted so as to insure that the process is fair. To assign control of a URL such as .travel to one organization is likely a bad idea, unless there are clear and concise guidelines established dictating how the URL is to be managed.

Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to voice our opinion on this issue.

Best Regards,

Randall Cesena
