Subject: IATA - BAD CHOICE

Message:

IATA should not be considered as a choice for the .travel TLD for the following reasons:
1) IATA represents only one sector of the travel industry - the airlines.  IATA does not speak for or on behalf of travel agents, tour companies, independent hotels and hotel chains, car rental companies, cruise lines, and other industry related companies.
2) IATA should not impose its own arbitrary plans to determine who should be eligible to have a .travel domain.  IATA has no right to private information such as a company's business plan or financial statement.
3) IATA has a history of charging exhorbitant fees.  What is to keep IATA from excluding small companies who cannot afford their fees.

I do not object to the idea of a .travel TLD.  I just want a company chosen who will be fair, unbiased, and equally accessible to all members of the travel industry.  I don't believe that IATA is capable of this.
