SWISSPORT a leading service provider in the airline industy is in support of this proposal.

We argue that the .com place is very much overcrowded and consumers often do not find suitable offers for travel just because there is a mass of offerings out there which are in no way relevant to what the consumer is looking for.

Therefore a .travel TLD makes a lot of sense. It is argued that IATA would not be the right organisation to sponsor this TLD. How else should then?

Travel, moreover air travel has boosted b2c e-commerce toghether with banking the most. We regard it as being practical and fair that IATA, an international organisation representing airlines from all over the world would stand in for the travel industry to guarantee transparence and objectivness in applying .travel

It is obvious that much more entities take part in the travel industry. Only air travel is so paramount global that we feel it justified to entrust IATA in this respect. And we trust that IATA is willing and capable of performing the screening and verification functions in the benefit of the consumer and the travel industry as a whole.
