Subject: BAA plc supports IATA Application

Message:

BAA plc is the official company name of the British Airport Authority

BAA, plc wishes to express its support of the IATA proposal to sponsor a ".travel" top level domain.  As owner and/or operator of major international airports in the UK, US, Italy and Australia, the BAA is a literal "hub" of the international travel industry.  We believe the approval of this application would further increase customer usage of the internet for business and personal travel, as well as cargo transport.  It would serve the internet community and all parties in the international travel, tourism and transport industries.  Airports in particular would see major benefits if a portion of the internet were reserved for the travel industry.  With representatives from all sectors of the travel and tourism industry serving on the .travel Advisory Board -- including travel agent associations, hotels, car hire companies, rail, cruise lines , consumer groups, etc. as well as airports -- we can all be assured that the management of the .travel domain will serve the interests of the entire industry.
