Subject: AEA support ".travel"TLD

AEA, the Association of European Airlines, represents 29 major European scheduled carriers that are:
Adria Airways, Air Lingus, Air France, Air Malta, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, Balkan, British Airways, British Midland, Cargolux, Croatia Airlines, CSA, Cyprus Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Icelandair, JAT, KLM, Lufthansa, Luxair, Malev, Olympic Airways, Sabena, SAS, Swissair, TAP Air Portugal, Turkish Airlines.
The objectives of the AEA are to serve in general the common interests of the members of the Association. It shall represent the interest of its members to the institutions of the European Union, to the European Civil Aviation Conference, to nay other international organisation or association involved in or likely to be involved in issues of interest to AEA members and, as appropriate, to individual government.

Travel has already established itself as the largest component of e-commerce but many consumers reluctant to purchase travel over the web because of uncertainty about the reputation and reliability of “.com” web operators

IATA's acknowledged strengths include stand-settings, the accreditation of travel businesses and assignment of codes for airlines, airports, etc. thus, it is ideally positioned to perform the screening and verification functions which lie at the heart of the proposal and which are notably absent from today's ".com" environment. I strongly encourage ICANN to grant the IATA application

Thank you for your attention,
