The Association of Canadian Travel Agents (ACTA) has serious concerns with IATA's application to ICANN for sponsoring the dot-travel Top Level Domain.
There are already many concerns about the domination of the airline sector within the travel and tourism industry.  The dot-travel domain is required but it must not be controlled by an airline association alone, for the same reasons that a travel agency or hotels association must not have this authority either.
The best solution for managing the dot-travel TLD, is to form a partnership group of representatives from the airline, destination marketing organizations, travel agency, accommodation, cruise  and ground transportation industry to have equal representation and governance over this popular domain.
This TLD must be industry (whole not one sector) managed and governed to be its most effective.  A collaborative effort between the above sectors is the only acceptable solution.
