Consider it this way: I am a registrant in an alternative root. The TLD of that root was open for anyone and everyone to register in. Bringing that TLD into the mainstream root would just move the registrants to a new locale.

If .web is not accepted, I could potentially remain in the alternate root forever. But rest assured: I registered my domains. I did NOT pre-register them. In the root somewhere, my domains sit, and if I had the proper configuration, I could see them.

ICANN: Be an agency for the People as well as an agency devoted to corporate interests.

Bring IOD's .web into the Internet root, and allow .web to become the TLD of the People.

Then grant us protection.
