Subject: Parallel root server with separate database

Message:

Technically, can a parallel root server be created to operate simultaneaously with the A root server?  Example:  call it the AA root server (instead of www use iii ("internationally implemented internet" or whatever) with a separate database.  All new TLDs could use this.  Data from both roots would be available for WhoIs lookups in order to avoid duplication of registrations.  This could reduce monopolistic practices, create competition, be easy for users (iii instead of www), open the name space with less change to the existing structure of the internet, and open the internet to more of the world.

Comments?  I'm just trying to bring some form to possible solutions.
