Subject: Yes, generics - no, artificial scarcity

Sir, your theory breaks down, however, when the artificial scarcity is removed, and there are as many generic TLDs as possible. The conflicts and the necessity to register in all of them goes away.

We already have trademark issues in .com, they're not going away. We already have scarcity in .com, it's not going away. We already have difficulty finding what we're looking for in .com, so adding new TLDs won't help, to be sure, but it won't hurt, either.

Finally, you mention you worked on a restricted TLD application - might this be why you're against unrestricted TLDs? Which one did you work on?
