Subject: How would ICANN end?

I agree.. if ICANN doesn't listen to the opinions of the public at large they, indeed, would need to end. But how does an organization such as ICANN end? I mean, who would end it? By what authority? By what authority did they form? Much like in the "real world" the runaway politics and governments have got a life and mind of their own. They become self-sustaining and almost "self-aware" to the degree that they no longer want to be put out of business because they start to have a sense of self-preservation (sort of). Fortunately, the web is still in its infancy, and it _is_ still possible for the public to affect to the decisions.
