Subject: How Generic are these proposals - internationalisation?

Message:

Looking at the proposed gTLDs they seem to be highly USA marketing and English language dominated.

I'm sure the marketing departments in english language countries are happy for that, but it would seem to me, that there is a lack of forethought for internationalization issues.

Wouldn't it make more sense to REMOVE .com as a gTLD and put all those american companies into the .us domain - putting the gTLD's back into a generic sphere which applies across all languages?
