Subject: Neustar and Afilias Bid to Steal .Web

I would like to point out to everyone that the application
marked as for ".dot" by NeuStar is actually an application
for .web by JVTeam (they also apply for .per and .biz
in separate applications). While ICANN has marked
this incorrectly, their application clearly states that it
is from JVTeam, and that it's for only .web. The other
domains are listed as alternatives if ICANN does not
award them .web.

Please do not be misled, this is just another attempt by
an established player to get more market share, at the
expense of the pioneer, Image Online Design. So what
we have now is Afilias applying for 3 domains, and JVTeam
applying for 3 domains. Both are trying to take .web.
Both are established players (Afilias is NSI and JVTeam
is Melbourne IT, a CORE registrar, also part of
Afilias, and one of ICANN's testbed registrars).

Isn't this whole thing about introducing competition?!

It looks to me like it's just ICANN's way of asking the established
players what else they'd like!
